Beans

While Mommy was cooking supper the other night, she let us have some fun in the kitchen! We are always asking to play with her fun tools, and she finally let us!

She gave us a mix of lentils and beans, and then she let us choose a few of her kitchen tools to play with.

We had a great time scooping, sifting, pouring,

And even measuring the beans!

Plus, it allowed Mommy to cook supper all by herself! A win for everyone!

More Wallington Hall

We have had a new friend visiting from the States this week, so we have tried to take her to a few of our favorite places. Of course we had to take her to Wallington Hall, where we went a few weeks ago. The gardens are just so pretty!

We started off with a little ice cream to get us going. I'm not sure why Riley Cates looks so concerned here. She was loving that cone!

I love the big fields that are perfect for running!

We actually went on a (brief) tour of the house this time. We let Sarah, our new friend, take a little longer, but a house is a house to me and Riley Cates.

We also found a playground that we did not discover last time. Riley Cates was very brave to try going across this! And she did great (with Daddy's help, of course)!

It was fun to peek out at everyone from the cool little windows.

And Riley Cates really liked sliding down the rope. She is fearless!

I got really excited when we got to play on a train! They even had pretend tickets for us to play with! All aboard!

There was a slide at the top!

It was a very tall slide!

We all took a break on the train for a few minutes. Obviously we were having a good time!

Then we walked through the gardens a bit. The flowers are so bright and beautiful!

But it gets exhausting to walk all of that way/ I ran out of gas and wanted a nap.

Riley Cates wanted to do yoga.

We paused for one more family photo before heading back home!

What a great day!

A Long Walk

We went on a walk today along Hadrian's Wall. Isn't it amazing?

See that steep hill with the tiny steps? We climbed all of those. Can you believe it?!

You get some pretty amazing views from being up that high!

We walked along the wall for a bit on the footpath. And, yes, we are wearing jackets at the end of June. Who knew?!

The Romans built forts every mile along the wall so that they could watch for enemies. We took a break at one of them.

Then we made it to our destination...

Sycamore Gap. It is a nice spot for a picnic, no? (If you saw Robin Hood with Kevin Costner, this is the tree from the beginning of the movie.)

After getting fueled back up for the walk back to the car, we set off and walked right next to some sheep!

See how happy this makes me!

Daddy climbed up one of the ladders to get over the wall and got a fun picture of us!

And then he and Mommy stopped for a picture. Tender!

Then we had to keep on walking. We walked nearly 2 miles today. I did it all without being carried (and without much complaining!), and Riley Cates walked most of the way by herself as well! Mommy and Daddy said how proud they were of us and our walking!

It was a beautiful day to see the beautiful countryside!

Working Hard

Mommy was working so hard getting our house all clean this morning. She looked like she was having so much fun that we asked if we could join in!

Washing windows is fun!

See how much better it looks?

Then I took a turn vacuuming my room,

While Riley Cates took a break to read Pete the Cat.

Then she cleaned up all of her books,

So that she could try the vacuum! It's trickier than it looks!

After lunch I told Mommy that I wanted to wash the dishes.

We were such good helpers!

**Mommy wanted to know how long the stage of enjoying and asking for chores lasted... cause she's sure it won't last long!

Sleeping Beauty

It has been a bit of an adventure lately to find out how and where Riley Cates is sleeping...

(Don't worry. She wasn't really asleep in the one above. She was just pretending so that she wouldn't get in trouble for getting out of bed!)

And please note that Mommy or Daddy did correct all of these weird sleeping poses! I am not sure how many of them can be comfortable!

Making Mud

As I ran inside to the loo (that's what they call the bathroom here, which makes a little sense because our downstairs bathroom doesn't even have a bath...) to fill up my cup with water from the sink (the only sink I can reach), Mommy asked what I was doing. I told her that it was alright because I was doing something interesting.

Making mud and digging holes is interesting, right?

Hey, Sissy, you have a little something above your eye. And you can tell by my sweet smile that I had absolutely nothing to do with that.

Check out the mud!

Be careful or we may decorate you with it!

We really enjoyed and took advantage of this hot day. And by hot, I mean that it may have gotten over 70 degrees. Who is ready to come visit?!?

Riding My Tractor

Riley Cates and I had some work to do in the yard (or the garden as they call it here) today.
'

Check out our haul! We worked so hard getting all of that in the trailer!

Now this is what little sisters are for...
