Mommy and I decided to make Apple Cinnamon Bagels yesterday! It was so fun and not too hard... well, for me at least. You start by getting a really cute apron (thanks Aunt Abby!) and three apples.
Then get to peeling them! (Lightning and Mater are good helpers too!)
You have to cut them into small pieces (the apples, not Lightning and Mater). Thank goodness for this apple cutter!
Pour them in a pan with cinnamon and sugar,
And stir, stir, stir!
In another bowl mix the yeast, water, flour, and all of that good stuff. Make sure to measure carefully!
Pour the yummy apples in too! Oh, and make sure you do a taste test of the apples! Just don't eat them all!
Then it is time to knead the dough. I wasn't too good at that, so Mommy helped me there. She said it was a good workout!
Then plop the dough into the bowl and WAIT. There is a lot of waiting in bagel making.
But after an hour... Surprise! It grew!
We had to make the dough into bagel shapes,
And then we gave them a hot bath!
Now time for the oven (after some of them got a special topping... Note to self: Make more special topping next time. The recipe did not make enough goodness for all of the bagels!). Make sure you keep your hands covered! It gets hot in that oven!
Voila! Bagels!
But the best part, of course, is the taste test! Boy, they were delicious! What a fun day!

Jackson is such an impressive helper! :) And I love the floor in your kitchen. And, what recipe do you think is a good beginner bagel recipe? Recommendations? Miss you!
Gina - you are so good at having him help you (much better than I ever was) and I know he loves it! It makes me want to come to your house for bagels for breakfast!!
